Finley and CCG Conduct Fiber-To-The-Home Study For City of Cortez
As reported by the Druango Herald, Finley Engineering Company and CCG Consulting conducted a fiber-to-the-home feasibility study for the city of Cortez, Colorado. The consultants estimated the least expensive method to provide fiber to residential areas in the city would be for the city to become a direct internet service provider and to fund the fiber installation with a temporary sales tax increase.

New research from IHS Market finds that 85% of service provider networks will have smart central offices by the end of the year.
Smart central offices include servers, storage and switching so that they serve as mini data centers that offer cloud services and provide the network functions virtualization (NFV) infrastructure on which to run virtualized network functions (VNFs) such as vRouter, firewall, CG-NAT and IP/MPLS VPNs.

The Wi-Fi Alliance has introduced Wi-Fi Certified EasyMesh, an initiative aimed at creating efficient and self-organized Wi-Fi networks even if the access points come from multiple vendors. Wi-Fi Alliance EasyMesh offers a standards-based approach, which enables it to work across vendor lines, the organization said.
