Unlocking the Digital Home: Smart Locks to Generate $2.4 Billion on 2023

Smart locks will reach sales of almost 26 million units in 2023, creating an annual smart lock market of $2.4 billion according to a smart lock market forecast from Strategy Analytics. The report says that the category will enjoy a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 19% for the length of the forecast period. Sales will climb from 3.8 million units in 2014 to 11.1 million this year, 19.4 million in 2021 and 25.7 million by 2023.

IEEE LiFi Task Group Created to Pursue Light Communications

IEEE has formed a new task group to work with manufacturers, operators and end users to build a global standard for light communications in wireless local area networking. The IEEE LiFi task group will focus on using solid state lighting, such as LED lighting, to wirelessly transmit high-bandwidth data.

Broadband Forum Releases Open Broadband - Broadband Access Abstraction (OB-BAA) Code

The Broadband Forum has taken a step toward establishing norms and standards in the cloud with the first code release and documentation of its Open Broadband-Broadband Access Abstraction (OB-BAA) project. The highly technical work aims to ease what today are difficult business and planning decisions.
