Cybersecurity Alert: Malware Attack Data Finds Record-High 10.52 Billion Attacks

There were a record-high 10.52 billion malware attacks in 2018 and IoT attacks increased by 217% from 2017, according to malware attack data from cybersecurity technology company SonicWall. The data was compiled from threat intelligence obtained from the company’s more than 1 million sensors from around the world.

5G Deployments To Ramp Up This Year

As many as 55 5G networks could be live by the start of next year, according to a new report from technology testing company Viavi Solutions Inc. In the report, The State of 5G Deployments, Viavi said 13 mobile and fixed 5G wireless networks debuted last year. Another 42 networks are expected to launch this year, with the majority of these deployments in Europe and the Middle East (21 and 14, respectively), followed by 10 in Asia, eight in the Americas and two in the Australasia region.

 

Report Finds IoT Network Deployments In 52 Countries

More than 100 operators in 52 countries have now either deployed or launched at least one of the NB-IoT or LTE-M technologies designed to support the Internet of Things (IoT), according to an IoT network deployments report from the Global Mobile Supplies Association (GSA). Of these, 20 operators in 19 countries had deployed or launched both NB-IoT and LTE-M, GSA said.

Frost & Sullivan Offers Bullish Cloud Communications Forecast

North American companies continue to shift communications to the cloud at a speed that will make it the preferred communications model by 2024, according to a cloud communications forecast from Frost & Sullivan. The researchers are predicting a compound annual growth rate of 20% for cloud communications between now and then.
