Dell'Oro Group: XGS-PON, 10G EPON Driving PON Equipment Spending
The global PON equipment market revenue is forecast to reach $7.3 billion by 2023, according to a PON spending forecast from the Dell’Oro Group. Spending is primarily driven by new 10 Gbps EPON and XGS-PON deployments, as well as investments to maximize existing 2.5 Gbps GPON networks.
IDC: SD-WAN Spending Forecast Highlights Growing Carrier Opportunity
Software Defined Wide Area Network (SD-WAN) spending will grow significantly over the next five years, according to an SD-WAN spending forecast from International Data Corporation (IDC). The SD-WAN infrastructure market will grow at an estimated 30.8% compound annual growth rate (CAGR) from 2018 to 2023 to reach $5.25 billion, researchers said.
FCC Sets Rules For 5G MMWave Auction 103, Largest Spectrum Auction In U.S. History
The FCC has established procedures for 5G millimeter wave auction 103, which will be the largest spectrum auction in U.S. history.
This will be the third auction of high band millimeter wave spectrum for 5G. It will include the upper 37 GHz, 39 GHz and 47 GHz bands and include as much as 3,400 MHz of spectrum. This makes it’s the largest spectrum auction in history, measured by the amount of available spectrum. That probably won’t translate to the largest in dollars committed though.
Wi-Fi Alliance, CableLabs Release Wi-Fi Certified Data Elements Code
The Wi-Fi Alliance and CableLabs have released code for Wi-Fi CERTIFIED Data Elements, an initiative aimed at developing key performance indicators (KPIs) for Wi-Fi networks.
The initiative, which began last year, is aimed at optimizing and increasing reliability of residential and business Wi-Fi deployments.
