Missouri Governor Announces Launch of $5M Broadband Grant Program

On November 5th, Missouri Governor Parson and the Departments of Economic Development and Agriculture announced the launch of the state’s $5M broadband grant program to bring high speed internet to Missouri. Nearly 20% of Missourians lack access to high speed internet. 

Report: Smart Home Growth Impacted by Consumer Cybersecurity Concerns

Just over seven-in-ten (71%) of U.S. broadband households with smart home devices are concerned about cybersecurity, according to a new report about smart home cybersecurity concerns from Parks Associates.

GSMA Study Outlines Mobile Industry Impact and Path to 5G

Mobile operator association GSMA cites North America as one of the most advanced mobile regions in the world, thanks to operator investments in 5G, in a newly released study. There were 321 million North American mobile subscribers in 2018, according to the researchers.

Broadband Forum, ONF Partner for Path to Automated Access Networks

The Broadband Forum and the Open Networking Foundation have reached an agreement on how broadband operators can leverage open source and standardization projects to help with migrations to automated access networks. The two groups point out that many new business opportunities are rising for broadband providers, meaning the need for new services to be rapidly deployed, while often using third-party applications to work across disparate, software-defined networks.

Shift to Helping Drive Wireless Infrastructure Spending, But 4G Still Plays a Major Role

As carriers, large and small, ramp up their 5G efforts, spending for wireless infrastructure is growing. But current technologies, including 4G and fixed wireless, which many Finley clients are embracing, are also big contributors. In fact, spending on indoor infrastructure is driving much of this wireless infrastructure spending, according to a report from ABI Research.
