IDC: Smart Home Device Markets Grow 10% in a Turbulent Year

Despite a fractious international landscape, smart home device shipments grew 10.3% year over year in the third quarter of this year, according to IDC. More than 221.8 million devices shipped worldwide during the quarter, which was 20.6 million greater than the 201.2 million shipped during the third quarter of 2020, the firm said.

Final ARPA Treasury Rules - A Few Key Differences

The U.S. Department of the Treasury released the final rules to use ARPA funding that will take effect April 1, 2022. This was the $350 billion that was paid out to local governments, counties, and states to address issues related to the pandemic. The document is a whopping 437 pages long.

WBA, Cable Labs Share Wi-Fi 6E Test Results

The Wireless Broadband Alliance (WBA) announced results of a trial conducted on its behalf by CableLabs and Intel on the use of low power indoor Wi-Fi 6E for residential applications. The test found that use of 160-MHz channels on Wi-Fi 6E enabled downlink speeds of 1.7 TCP Gbps and uplink speeds of 1.2 TCP Gbps.
