Broadband Forum, Wi-Fi Alliance Take on Connected Device Management

The Broadband Forum published the next version of the Broadband Forum suite of standards for managed services. The suite now includes integrated advanced capabilities from the Wi-Fi Alliances’ Wi-Fi Data Elements. The goal is to create a more efficient and “smoother path” to connected device management.

The contentious issue of pole replacement disputes is on the FCC’s March meeting agenda. This issue is of particular note with so much broadband expansion activity underway. There have been many disputes between utilities and telecom carriers regarding poles, as network expansion momentum accelerates.

FCC Implements New Broadband Data Collection Rules


The FCC will soon ramp up the requirements for the collection of accurate, location-specific data of where broadband service is available. The new mapping data will be submitted in the form of shape files to define where ISPs have active customers or are capable of implementing a request for new service within ten working days. Every ISP in the country is required to submit new maps by the due date. Are you prepared?

Report: Mid-Band Spectrum Could Spur $610B GDP Growth by 2030

New research from GSMA reports that 5G mobile network services in the mid-band spectrum range could add in excess of $610 billion to global GDP by 2030, nearly 65% of the overall $960 billion socio-economic value created by the technology.

Six Communities Selected for Accelerate Illinois Broadband

Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker and the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) Office of Broadband have selected the City of Springfield, Jackson County, Knox County, Mercer County, Whiteside County and the Village of Elsah to participate in the inaugural cohort of the Accelerate Illinois Broadband Infrastructure Planning Program.
